I’ve always been drawn to water. Our family moved from the east coast to Southern California a few blocks from the beach when I was nine, and I fell in love. My brother and I would race to brunch at the end of the pier every weekend, and I’d sit on our rooftop for hours writing and listening to the waves. These days, I love the rugged coastline of Highway 1, with its winding roads, creeping fog and endlessly changing skies. The ocean is my place—always.

It’s always our self we find in the sea.”
